CHIROPRACTIC 101
There is
nothing new about the fact that every nerve in your body
originates in the brain and passes through the spine to make
the nervous system. It is also a fact that nerves control
every action and reaction in your body. For instance, that
cold sensation after picking up an ice cube on your finger
tips is a reaction that your nervous system sent out.
Another example is your digestive system. Without the help
of a well functioning nervous system, messages would not be
sent to the stomach or intestines for proper digestion,
causing cramps, bloating, diarrhea or all of the above.
With that in
mind, in order for the nerves to function properly, the
spine must be properly aligned. If one or more vertebrae is
misaligned, the bone will impinge on the nerve passing
through that section of the spine, similar to the way a hose
is kinked. Just like the hose, a lack of nerve flow occurs.
In the medical world this is called a "subluxation".
Subluxations vary in rate of severity, and will cause any
number of nerve alterations, but it will always change the
dynamics of a normally healthy spine, whether it's lack of a
temperature sensation, a cramped muscle, fatigue, or
digestive problems. These are just a few symptoms associated
with a subluxation.
The role of a
chiropractor is to check the spine, find any subluxations,
and realign them with the rest of the spine by means of a
gentle adjustment. The body is able to do the rest, since it
is a natural self healing organism. Through Chiropractic and
other natural therapies, you will be able to reach your
maximum health & fitness potential and keep it there for
life!
